Synopsis by Hal Erickson
In no way related to Lindsay Anderson's anarchistic 1968 film of the same name, the British silent If concerns a lady thief (Iris Delaney) known only as Madame X. She is given a chance to redeem herself when German count Judd Green attempts to squash the British war effort. With the help of detective Ernest Leicester, Madame X offers her stealing talents in the service of His Majesty. The finale involves a phony airship attack, conveyed through the use of occasionally convincing scale models. Though no screen-writing credits are available, If appears to have been adapted from a magazine short story.
