Aside from the fact that this story takes place in Indonesia, it is universal and could take place nearly anywhere. Two of the children of the mother in this film give her endless cause for worry. One, a young woman, has fallen in love with a most unsuitable young man, a non-Javanese from Irianjaya. Her other child, her oldest son, has left his quite lovely wife and child and is carrying on openly with an actress.
