Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Composer Giuseppe Verdi originally authored his opera I masnadieri in 1847, on a commission by Her Majesty's Theatre in London, England. He freely adapted the work from Friedrich Schiller's play The Robbers. The Teatro di San Carlo mounted this 2012 stage version, which stars Giacomo Prestia as Massimiliano, Aquiles Machado as Carlo, Artur Rucinski as Francesco and Lucrecia Garcia as Amalia. The Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro di San Carlo provide musical accompaniment with Nicola Luisotti conducting. Alessandro Camera designed the sets, Andrea Viotti created the costumes, Salvatore Caputo serves as chorus master, and Gabriele Lavia directs for the stage.
