Various interlocking stories emerge from the situation in which Greek military recruits are put through their basic training in 1953 and, as per the title, become men with Shaved Heads. The first story follows a prostitute as she is involved with a genuinely romantic but somewhat enigmatic affair with one of these young servicemen. The same story is retold, this time from the soldier's perspective, and it sheds light on things which remained mysterious in the other story. Various other stories are shown from multiple points of view, and the villain from one perspective is often transformed into a hero in the next.
