Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Promoted as a weekly Australian TV documentary series, Hybrid Life was actually a collection of 13 independently produced short films, linked together by a central theme. Specifically the theme was "ethnic interaction," or the experiences of second-generation migrants as they adjusted to one another in their parents' adopted homeland of Australia. Highlights included "Parra," a study of the various nationalities who hung out at Westfield Shopping Mall in Parramatta, and "Saturn's Return," a dramatic playlet. Hybrid Life first aired on June 8, 2001.
