Synopsis by Nathan Southern
As directed by and co-starring Julius Frankenburg, the 1916 silent feature Humanizing Mr. Winsby was adapted from a short story by Peter B. Kyne. The premise involves the wealthy title character, who wields power over virtually all the residents of his California small town except for a feisty and determined young woman named Patty. Circumstances change for Winsby when he heads out to Manhattan and promptly experiences a sequence of events that humanize and humble him - including a robbery. He subsequently returns home a changed man and marries Patty.
