Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
A great example of biting political satire, this film by Estonian director Kaljo Kiisk is set in a small town at the end of World War II. The Gestapo wants to kill off all five thousand inmates in the local insane asylum but for the time being, their plans are put on hold. One of their chiefs, a former gym teacher, has to interview the patients in order to find out which one is an English spy. So he tells the director that he will pose as a doctor and talk to all the patients in turn. What ensues are several ludicrous exchanges as the Gestapo chief of questionable sanity himself talks to five different, supposedly insane patients.
