Synopsis by Gönül Dönmez-Colin
A murder mystery set in 1990's London, Holding On begins with the contract killing of Michael Banbury, a senior barrister, while he is visiting a brothel in the suburbs. Initial suspicion falls on his ex-wife, Susan Flint. Phil Henderson, a retired Detective Superintendent, who was also a good friend of the victim, becomes involved in the investigation to help Flint prove her innocence. It soon emerges that the intended victim was not Banbury but Graham Rigg, the owner of the brothel and the head of a well-known South London gang. Along with the police and Henderson, now Rigg is also on the case. As Henderson develops a personal relationship with Flint, the official investigation becomes increasingly strained. What is more, he is involved in an intricate web of gang war and police corruption, a deadly game in which the criminals as well as the lawmen are mere pawns.
