Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar
This documentary from The History Channel provides a detailed examination and history of the Great Sphinx of Egypt. With interviews of historians and archeologists, this video delves into the past to try and solve many of the mysteries surrounding this famed structure. Some of these mysteries include why it was built, why the body and head are made from two different types of stone, and what is the significance of the half human and half beast monument. Modern-day computer graphics are used to simulate its construction and to try to determine what the Sphinx looked like before the desert surrounded it and before Napoleon's troops damaged its exterior. The video also tries to determine which historic ruler or figure the Sphinx is supposed to represent.
