Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This film is part of a series that traces the development of the comic strip as an art form. Comics first appeared in American newspapers at the turn of the last century and have since become an integral part of pop culture. The video shows how comics both reflect and predict cultural trends. This volume, The 90's and the Future of Comics, looks at the lucrative business of comic book collecting, as well as at comics that have made it onto the silver screen and television. The Internet has provided still another venue of expression for visionary comic strip artists. Their work is presented in this conclusion of the saga of the comic strip.
