Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Doris Morse (Emmy Wehlen) is the daughter of a copper magnate (Frank Currier). She's fed up with the men she's meeting, all of whom seem to be after her money, so she drops out of society and moves to a cheap boarding house in Atlantic City. There, she's saved from a drowning accident by aspiring architect Philip Hazard (Creighton Hale), and a romance develops. The only problem is that Philip's pride won't allow him to marry a girl of wealth. Doris, of course, has been pretending to be poor, but eventually, he discovers the truth. The only thing that saves the couple is that Doris' father, wanting to see his daughter happy, pretends to disown her (while secretly handing her a stack of bonds as a wedding gift). So Doris and Philip marry, and everything is fine for a while. But eventually, Doris wearies of the threadbare life and uses some of her father's bonds so that she can have some luxuries -- nice furniture, a chef, and a butler. This infuriates Philip, who insists that she get rid of everything he didn't pay for. Only after a lot of strain does the couple reunite, but Philip gets a well-paying assignment, so they won't be paupers forever.
