Synopsis by Mark Deming

In this independent urban drama, Devon (Q-Nice) is a aspiring rap musician living in Cleveland who is trying to please his family by going to school, while at the same time working to improve his skills at the mic. His girlfriend is outwardly supportive, but wishes he would take up a more practical career path, and she wants him to spend more time with her -- time he would rather spend working on his music. With Devon entered in a contest for MC's that could earn him a recording contract if he wins, Devon must decide if his first priority in life is his music, his girlfriend, or his father. Hiphopbattle.com: Hiphop for Life was shown at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.
