Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Based on the children's books by Nicholas Allan, the British series Hilltop Hospital utilized stop-motion animation to detail the happenings at a hospital run by talking animals, "where no emergency is too great." Heading the staff was Dr. Matthews, a dog, whose chief aide (and implicit romantic interest) was Nurse Kitty, a cat. Others on the Hilltop team were surgeon Sally (a hippo), anesthetist Atticus (a turtle), lab techs Claire and Arthur (twin mice), and ambulance and helicopter drivers Ted and Ted (twin bears). Dispensing warmth, humor, and important prosocial messages, the series proved to be a great favorite wherever it player, even winning a certificate of merit from the San Francisco International Film Festival. Produced for British TV by Siriol Productions, the 13-episode Hilltop Hospital debuted September 27, 1999.
