Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Veteran leading man David Butler made his directorial debut with High School Hero. The story, co-written by Butler and newspaper humorist William Conselman, concerns a group of high-school Latin students who endeavor to put on an amateur play. Campus rivals Pete Greer (Nick Stuart) and Bill Merrill (John Darrow) use the play as an excuse to continue their battle over the affections of cutie Eleanor Barrett (Sally Phipps). Not surprisingly, the "epic" production turns into a shambles, while the adult audience beams proudly, assuming the chaos is all part of the act. A different sort of "student" comedy, High School Hero convinced the Fox studio executives that David Butler had what it took for more prestigious productions.
