Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Author Nadine Bari's numerous autobiographical novels inform director Catherine Veaux-Logeat's documentary tracing the disappearance of Bari's husband in 1972 under the dictatorship of Sékou Touré, and tells the story that led to the adoption of the UN's International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. The early 1970s: Bari's husband was a top civil servant in Guinea before he inexplicably vanished without a trace. Ever since that fateful incident, Bari has been fighting to find out the truth about what really happened to her husband. Her writings have inspired social change, and her quest launched a movement. In this film, we follow one woman's noble struggle to discover the truth, and ensure the future protection of families and children of the disappeared.
