Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The daily, 15-minute Canadian children's series Hidden Pages was created and hosted by actor/librarian Beth Gillanders. Patterned after the CBC radio series "Cuckoo Clock House," the program gently encouraged the kids at home to read books and to visit their local libraries. Each episode concentrated on a single literary subject, using readings and dramatizations to bring the words to life. Originating from the CBC's Toronto studios in 1955, Hidden Pages moved to the network's Vancouver facilities one year later, expanding to a daily half hour in the process; it remained in this locale and format until the end of the decade.
