Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The first of four documentaries presented by the Cinemax cable service in honor of Gay Pride Month in 2003, He's Having a Baby focuses on Jeff Danis, a high-powered Hollywood agent, and Don Pike, his partner of 20 years. When Danis decides that he wants to adopt a baby, he and Pike head off to Saigon -- not, as might be expected, because of home-grown resistance against homosexual adoption, but because Danis feels a strong emotional bond with the people of Southeast Asia. Although the adoption goes off without a hitch, the new arrival causes a bit of friction between Danis and Pike -- virtually the only vestige of conflict in this touching and often amusing excursion into alternative-lifestyle reality. Assembled by Georg and Abby Hartmann for GRQ Productions, He's Having a Baby was first broadcast on June 4, 2003.
