Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
This 1965 documentary by director Peter Fleishmann follows the lives of the big-city long-haired vagabonds known as the Gammlers. No set profile defines the group, whose members range from the incredibly unfortunate to the extremely lazy. Fleishmann follows the group in Munich in an effort to gain insight into their lives and philosophy. Locals voice their varied opinions of the Gammlers, and the opinions expressed are as diverse as the individuals of the group on which they are commenting. The feature won a prize at the Mannheim Film Festival in 1967.
