Synopsis by Nathan Southern
This grueling, disturbing documentary argues that although World War II offered many hellish environments - from New Guinea swamps, to sweltering Philippine jungles, to the frozen Russian tundra - no sphere was as miserable and inhumane as the torture-filled prison camps to which the Japanese strong-armed their Allied Captives. The film takes viewers inside of the said camps, via interviews with survivors, discussions with historians, startling archival footage, and much more.
