This picture starts off with a prologue set in prehistoric times. A powerful caveman brings home a woman, but she falls in love with the weaker brother. When the woman and brother are drowning in a river, the strong caveman sacrifices his own life to save them both. Cut to the modern era, and a town in the West called Last Chance. Hugh Payne (House Peters), who manages the mine there, falls in love with an uneducated girl, Abby Hope (Nina Byron). She undergoes a Cinderella-like transformation, and when Hugh's reprobate brother, Larry (Eugene Pallette) arrives from the East, he swears he is going to marry her. Although it saddens him, Hugh is willing to let Larry have her. But the day comes when he rescues the pair from a fire and Larry, seeing that Abby really loves Hugh, sets things right.
