Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Heart Thief was put together at the behest of Cecil B. DeMille, who didn't want his new contract player Joseph Schildkraut to sit around idle. Schildkraut is cast as a romantic young blade who is hired to break up the romance between a foolish old nobleman and a supposed golddigger (Lya de Putti). Our "hero" is to woo away the girl, seduce her and leave her in disgrace. Upon discovering that his victim-to-be is actually the first woman he ever loved, Schildkraut changes his mind -- or does he? Though supposedly set in Europe, The Heart Thief has a decided New York "feel" to its lavish interior sets.
