Annie Wilkes (Louise Huff) is in need of a job, so her friend, May (Grace Barton), gets her work as a messenger at the dress making establishment of Madame Estelle (Marion Barney). Annie, who has a talent for design, enters a contest held by the American Modiste's Association. She wins the five thousand dollar prize, but Madame Estelle herself takes both the credit and the money. Annie and her boyfriend, Mike Monahan (Johnny Hines) are forced to go to a lawyer to try to get justice. But the lawyer goes to Madame Estelle with the original drawing, blackmailing her for a piece of the action. Madame Estelle's deceit is finally discovered, but not without a lot more trouble for Annie and Mike.
