Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Left without a penny after her mother's death, Annie Wilkes (Louise Huff) finds work at a fancy Park Avenue dress shoppe owned by Madame Estelle (Marion Barney). When Annie comes up with a prize-winning dress design, Madame Estelle steals the heroine's ideas and passes them off as her own. To keep Annie from protesting, the scheming modiste arranges to have the heroine arrested on a trumped-up burglary charge. Saving Annie from prison is her previously useless boyfriend, Mike Monahan (Johnny Hines), who accidentally stumbles across the evidence of Madame Estelle's larceny. Hardly a masterpiece, Heart of Gold was nonetheless beneficial to the career of likeable comic actor Johnny Hines.
