Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith

Between 1900 and 1970, many Americans enjoyed hearing news about their favorite performers, the FBI's most wanted criminals, and various fads sweeping across the country. Volume three of this four-part series features footage of Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Rita Hayworth, and Elvis Presley. Other news clips recall the FBI's lengthy battles with organized crime. Nostalgia is also rekindled by segments on Mickey Mouse cartoons, dance marathons, and the Hula Hoop craze. The footage contained in this volume was compiled from the Hearst News Reel Archives. The other three titles in this series are Headline Stories of the Century: America in Sports, Headline Stories of the Century: World War II, and Headline Stories of the Century: America in the News.
