Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Hawk Jones was an interesting attempt to do to the detective-story genre what Bugsy Malone did to the big-budget musical. This spoof of the noir mystery melodramas of the 1940s is enacted entirely by children. The delightfully named Valiant Du Hart plays Hawk Jones, hired by an adolescent femme fatale to locate a few missing items and people. The youthful cast does a nice job parodying the usual Bogart, Greenstreet and Mazurki types that usually populate this sort of fare. Hawk Jones is a little too thin to be spread over 88 minutes, but kids will probably have a good time.
