Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Not to be confused with Sydney Pollack's drama of the same name, released at about the same time, this documentary focuses on the city of Havana, Cuba, under the Castro regime. In particular, the persistence of local ways of celebration are contrasted with the generally rundown and often just plain impoverished face the city and its inhabitants present. Various old revolutionaries from varying walks of life offer their perspectives on the meaning of the revolution, while expatriates interviewed in Miami offer a different and more chilling understanding of life under communism.
