Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This documentary closely studies the effect of the Palestinian intafada, or uprising, on the lives of Israeli and Palestinian women. It is unusual in that it is basically non-partisan in tone, which should please neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians. Nonetheless, interviewees paint a grim picture of Israeli actions, including descriptions of torture and disregard for basic human rights. Understandably, the filmmakers had some difficulty passing between areas involved in the dispute, and that is also shown.
