Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The citizens of Hooterville are abuzz with curiosity and rumors when Oliver (Eddie Albert) refuses to reveal the contents of a letter he has received from Washington. Finally, the truth (more or less) comes out: Oliver has been offered a job with a prestigious DC law firm. Upon learning this, Oliver's neighbors begin hatching a scheme to keep him in Hooterville. Listen for a reference to The Twilight Zone, which had only been off the air a few years when this episode was filmed.
