Synopsis by Alice Day
In this A&E series, the focus is on ships, large and small, armed and unarmed. From gracefully masted schooners that sailed with the wind to nuclear-powered submarines monitoring danger from the depths of the oceans, the viewer will learn about the many vessels that occupy the seas. Great Ships: The Titanic Phenomenon looks at the preoccupation of the public with the fate of the Titanic, whose encounter with an iceberg precipitated a disaster. Included in the program are filmed sequences of the ship underwater and footage from archived collections.
