This video is part of a series that presents the history of some of the finest airplanes in the United States military arsenal. The program includes a tour of each plane, personal recollections by the personnel who served on board the aircraft, and exciting archival film footage of flight missions. This program looks at the DC-3 and C-47 Dakota transport planes that delivered troops and supplies to the front in World War II. Developed in 1935 for commercial use, the Dakota first saw military action in 1941 and continued to serve the country in the Vietnam era.
