Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This video is one in a series of five that examines some of the key events in the world's history during the 20th century. One of the far reaching effects of World War II was the complete reordering of Japanese society. The Western powers, notably the United States under the Marshall Plan, oversaw the restructuring agenda. In its wake, Japan's stature grew until it became one of the world's strongest economic powers. This episode chronicles that process. Two short documentaries are also presented: "Budapest" and "DeGaulle."
