This program is part of a series from the History Channel that examines some of the mistakes, miscommunications, miscalculations, and mishaps, that shaped -- and sometimes altered -- the course of World War II. Both sides had their share of wrong moves, but in the end, the Allies parlayed their right moves into a victory which defeated the Axis powers and restored peace to the world. This episode examines Operation Sea Lion. Winston Churchill alerted the world to the terrible danger that faced Britain in the summer of 1940. The world watched in terror as German troops gathered for an invasion England. But Hitler hesitated, and never gave the order to start Operation Sea Lion. This program investigates the reasons for Hitler's inaction, which may have led to his country's ultimate defeat. Archival film clips, photographs, personal accounts, and scholarly commentary tell the story
