Synopsis by Sally Barber
The past comes alive in this dramatized account of the great explorer Sir Walter Raleigh. Befriended by Queen Elizabeth, the navigator and poet's life is a story of sensational fame, fortune, and failure. Conveyed with reconstructions and dramatizations, the film traces the great adventurer's meteoric rise and slow fall from grace, the dark intrigues, the Orinoco disaster, and political manipulations associated with his world as Elizabeth's reign came to a close. The story concludes with Raleigh's tragic demise on the executioner's block.
