Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The cruelty of children is offered in all its unadorned ugliness in Grazuole. The title character is a 9-year-old girl, shunned by her classmates because of her alleged homeliness. Things come to a height of nastiness when Grazuole's "friends" appoint her the winner of a mock beauty contest. Only when one of the kids realizes how much the girl has been hurt by this maliciousness is Grazuole afforded any comfort or sympathy. American showings of Grazuole were largely confined to PBS telecasts and scattered weekend local-TV presentations.
