Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

The aptly named Grand Canyon is so immense that no words can adequately describe it; no single photograph can capture its vastness, its awesome depth and breadth. This program does all a camera can do to capture that grandeur with spectacular photography taken from numerous vantage points within the Grand Canyon's labyrinthine expanse. Mysterious canyons, serene oases, fantastic rock formations, and the raging power of the Colorado River are beautifully presented. The brilliant blue pools and falls of the Havasupai Canyon provide the scenic backdrop for a visit to the Native Americans who call the canyon their home. Natural scientists offer their insights on how the Grand Canyon was created, through processes that took place over thousands of years, while historians relate the area's colorful history. There are archival film clips from some of the movies that have been made in this setting of unparalleled beauty.
