Set at the turn of the 20th century in a small village in Bulgaria, this comedy-drama relies on the age-old techniques of silent film to heighten its humor and put across its sight gags. Purko (Todor Kolev) is a "Sad Sack" type who is way behind on paying his taxes to the state. Almost anything he does to raise money backfires; he is simply too gullible. Aside from Purko's antics, a local pig causes its share of slapstick hilarity when it eats anything in sight, usually something inherently inedible like the foundation of the local pub. As the pig does its own thing, Purko tries a few other tricks to get money -- this time to take off for America though it does not look like he should start English lessons anytime soon.
