Gospel is an expansive documentary that casts an affectionate eye on the world of gospel music. Most of the footage is derived from a 1981 gospel concert, presented at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California. The original five hour-plus duration of the concert is boiled down to 92 minutes. Among the featured performers are Shirley Caesar, The Clark Sisters and the Mighty Clouds of Joy.
