Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

This drama, the first Chinese language film to be filmed in San Francisco's Chinatown, follows the romantic exploits of a disobedient shopkeeper's daughter who sneaks out to see the Chinese opera. To meet the star of the opera, she sneaks into the club with the assistance of her father's salesman and meets him. The opera star and the girl fall in love and get married. Her father is enraged. He fires the salesman who betrayed him. Meanwhile the singer must go back to China, leaving his pregnant bride who later dies in labor. The babe survives and grows up to look exactly like her mother. Eventually, the girl and her grandfather reconcile and peace is restored.
