Synopsis by Mark Deming

Music video director Darren Doane made his feature film debut with this hard-edged drama. Wanting to distance himself from a series of past mistakes and the violent death of several of his friends, Nathan (Rick Rodney) leaves New York City and hops on a bus for California, where he hopes that he'll be able to find a new lease on life. Nathan meets Jeff (Sean Atkins), who is looking for a roommate, and he heads out in search of work. However, Nathan seems incapable of holding a job for more than a few days, and soon Jeff is hounding him for back rent. In time, Jeff introduces Nathan to Matthew (Bobby Field), a small-time drug dealer who is looking for helpers. Against his better judgement, Nathan begins working for Matthew, leading him back into the life of crime and drugs he was hoping to escape. Nathan realizes just how far down the wrong path he's gone -- and wonders how much farther he's willing to go -- when Matthew offers him a chance to make a fast $20,000 by murdering a rival dealer. Leading actor Rick Rodney is also the lead singer of the band Strife; the soundtrack to Godmoney features a number of contemporary punk bands, such as Voodoo Glow Skulls, Blink 182, Pennywise, Rollins Band, and The Descendents.
