The town has entered into a deal with the devil, and in the coming decades the local go on living peaceful but uneventful lives. Their living comfortably numb when an itinerant with a troublesome past appears without warning, stirring up emotions as he draws Rockwell's anguished past into the present. Before long the clocks in town start ticking again and the locals begin to grow vulnerable. The deal has been broken, and life must go on.
