Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith
Accomplished PBS journalist, former network correspondent, and author Bill Moyers provides viewers with an in-depth look into the international export of toxic substances to third-world countries. Now that large sums of money can be made from this type of trade, many worry that important environmental regulations and concerns are being ignored. The complicated issues involved with recycling and the disposal of hazardous waste receive intensive review. The added dangers associated with trying to safely ship these wastes across long distances are also addressed. This investigative documentary was produced by Lowell Bergman, the former 60 Minutes producer portrayed in the 1999 film The Insider.
