Debuting April 9, 1981, on Britain's Yorkshire Television, Get Up and Go provided a curious footnote to the career of eminent actress Beryl Reid, who served as erstwhile host. Intended to introduce youngsters to the intricacies of British politics, the series scored best on its pure-entertainment content, as personified by a zany puppet named Mooncat. Ultimately, both Beryl Reid and the educational angle were weeded out, and the series was retitled Mooncat in 1984.
