Synopsis by Kaitlin Elise Miller
Christoph Waltz directs and stars as Ulrich Mott, a German man married to an influential, much older woman Elsa Brecht (Vanessa Redgrave). He uses her connections in their Washington, D.C. suburb to rub shoulders with world leaders, concocting wild stories to impress them. Elsa’s Federal judge daughter Amanda (Annette Bening) suspects a sinister streak lurks beneath his charming exterior. Written by David Auburn. Inspired by the true story of Albrecht Muth.
