The quiet of the countryside is shattered when two Symbol TAs appear near Yushiro's stage site; one pursues Akata and Yushiro's sister, and the other, piloted by Miharu, forces its way into the old storehouse where Yushiro and Sorachi are hidden. Miharu finds Yushiro and is just about to capture him when she spots what appears to be the armored skeleton of "the terror" she had seen in her visions, and suddenly, Yushiro enters a trance and starts his Noh dance in front of it. She watches in horror as the skeleton's chest cavity opens up to swallow Yushiro whole, and the skeleton (the kugai) comes to life, attacking her brutally. When the other TA comes to her rescue, it only gets the kugai mad. It destroys both TAs, capturing Miharu before hers explodes. Long after the dust has settled, Yushiro asks Sorachi what happened and asks if he is a kai. Sorachi tells him he must travel to Watanabe, where the kugai was first found and brought back by the Gowa clan. Furthermore, Yushiro and Miharu are both kai, and their powers are awakening.
