Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
In many ways the successor to the great Pearl White, blond (by virtue of a wig) Allene Ray starred in this silent Western serial as a girl who will forfeit her ancestral ranch if she cannot locate a certain box containing valuable documents. Carole was handed the box upon the death of her father, only to have it stolen by a crook. With the able assistance of athletic David Kirby (Johnnie Walker), Carole spends the remaining nine chapters searching for the box which, when finally opened in chapter ten, reveals a deed to oil-rich land. A timid presence in real life, Texas-born Ray was fearless in front of the camera, coming closer than anybody to recapturing the spirit of the all-but-retired Pearl White. Galloping Hoofs, in fact, was written and directed by George B. Seitz and Frank Leon Smith, the two men responsible for most of Pearl's legendary exploits.
