Review by Fred Beldin

This transparent rip-off of Alien appropriates the grimy extraterrestrial architecture of the aforementioned feature as well as tremendously gory deaths, but succeeds only to offer maximum body count and futuristic double talk. The film's overly complicated exposition attempts some psycho-philosophical mumbo-jumbo about being killed by one's innermost fears. Amongst the personal terrors that dispatch the intrepid explorers are phobias over being stripped and raped by a giant worm, being stabbed to death by a recently severed arm, and having one's head caved in by the tentacles of an alien. Certainly these are universal human fears, but hardly the stuff of thoughtful science fiction. Legendary exploitation producer Roger Corman managed to arrange a colorful crew to handle the goofy business, including Erin Moran (Happy Days), Ray Walston (My Favorite Martian), Sid Haig (Spider Baby), and a pre-Freddy Krueger Robert Englund. Galaxy of Terror's strident seriousness and cheesy video-game laser effects will coax giggles while the wall-to-wall offal satisfies the viewer with a taste for blood.
