Synopsis by Rovi
This drama from director/screenwriter Doris Dörrie was shot in black and white in the Fukushima region of Japan shortly after the triple disaster event that ravaged the nation in 2011. The story follows a young German woman named Marie (Rosalie Thomass) who travels to Fukushima with the foreign aid organization Clowns4Help to try and cheer up the residents living near the site of a nuclear meltdown. At first, the trip is not what Marie was expecting, but she soon finds a purpose by helping Satomi (Kaori Momoi), the last geisha living in Fukushima, piece her life back together.
