Fruits of the Earth is a 23-part series examining the agricultural environment and farming technology used in a vast variety of regions around the world. Fruits of the Earth: Potatoes takes viewers to the Peruvian highlands where descendents of the Incas strive to court Pacha Mama (Mother Earth -- Fertility Goddess) in order to cultivate potatoes. Potatoes are indigenous to Peru and are considered a staple food in Peruvian diets. Other programs in the series include Fruits of the Earth: Babassu, Fruits of the Earth: Leucaena, and Fruits of the Earth: Winged Bean.
