The son of an Italian immigrant, Sinatra became a world-renowned, sometimes controversial entertainer. Part of the Frank Sinatra: His Life and Times video set, this program covers the humble beginnings of his 50-year career. A fan of crooner Bing Crosby, Sinatra formed a quartet called the Hoboken Four when he was a teenager. His big break into show biz came at age 19, when the Hoboken Four won top prize on the radio program Major Bowes Amateur Hour. Within a few years, Sinatra was singing for popular big bands led by Harry James and Tommy Dorsey.
