Synopsis by Janiss Garza

A labor leader (Clifford Bruce) becomes the victim of a group of capitalists and their henchmen. After he is forced to leave town, he travels north and makes a fortune with a silver mine. He comes back wealthy and after reuniting with his wife (Ruth Blair), he proceeds to purchase a newspaper called The Fourth Estate. He uses the power of the press to put his enemies in jail and to vindicate himself. This picture, based on the Joseph Medill Patterson play, showed a rare, accurate depiction of journalistic life. It helped that the newspaper scenes were shot at the Chicago Herald.
